Community Clubs

A social and creative space for our local communities to engage with sustainability, and promote positive mental health and wellbeing

Our Community Clubs were launched in 2022 thanks to funding through the £eith Chooses annual voting. These monthly clubs aim to tackle loneliness and social isolation, and improve the mental wellbeing of members of our Leith community who are still negatively affected by the impact of the covid-19 pandemic.

These clubs provide a welcoming and safe space for people to meet and socialise, helping to build confidence, new connections, and friendships. These are run both at the Edinburgh Remakery premises and externally in community spaces to make them as accessible as possible. We work with a number of community groups and charities that specialise in supporting marginalised people, so that we can make sure we’re reaching those who would really benefit from them. Groups we have worked with in 2022 so far include Sparkle Sisters, Citadel Youth Centre, Cyrenians, Milan Senior Welfare Organisation and Invisible Cities.

People can come along to the Community Clubs and enjoy some hot tea and coffee with biscuits and cake, and have the choice to also take part in a creative workshop to learn something new. Creative activities are proven to improve mental health and promote wellbeing, and by introducing attendees to new activities it could also be the start of a brand new hobby!

Here is a small sample of the positive feedback we’ve received from those who have attended our Community Clubs so far:

“Absolutely brilliant. So helpful. Helped with confidence and mental health.”

“Felt very relaxed and mindful”

“I really enjoyed how the facilitators opened up the session and made everyone feel comfortable to ask any question no matter their experience”

“I have undoubtedly gained experience and with that confidence in the areas we covered. The tutors held a wealth of knowledge.”
