Donations

If you have belongings you no longer need, you can donate them to us instead of throwing them away! We offer FREE collections of furniture within Edinburgh, and, unlike other charities, can even accept pieces that are broken and need to be repaired or refurbished.
We also accept donations of IT equipment and electronics. If you’re unsure of what we can accept as a donation, please check the list of items and FAQs section below.
For further enquiries, you can also e-mail a photo of the item you wish to donate to us and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
If you have an item that is neither IT or furniture related that you want to re-home, you can call the National Reuse Phone Line on: 0800 0665 820 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Don’t have any items to donate? You can also support our project by making a cash donation using the button below! All donations go towards increasing our work within the local community to support those in need. Find out more about our community work here.

FAQ’s

Can you guarantee that you will accept my donation?
The Edinburgh Remakery reserves the right to refuse donations on grounds of suitability for the purpose of its business operations. There are some things that we are, unfortunately, unable to accept. We are happy to come out and view items for donation, but cannot ensure that we can accept them until our team have confirmed this on viewing the item.
I’m not able to get to the Edinburgh Remakery, can you collect donations?
We can collect furniture items for free anywhere in Edinburgh. We are only occasionally able to collect IT and electronics donations so please contact us with details of your donation and your location and we will get back to you to confirm if this is possible – hello@edinburghremakery.org.uk / 0131 629 9358.
My laptop/phone/PC has personal data on it. Will this be removed before it is given to a project or sold on?
We use a US Government Department of Defence approved algorithm to securely wipe any data from donated equipment – using the 5220.22-M (3 pass) protocol. This is 99.999% secure and ensures all data is destroyed and is non-retrievable. If you are concerned about your personal data then we are able to issue a ‘Secure Data Wipe Certificate’ on request.
Can I bring in a donation outside of your opening hours?
We are unable to take donations outside of our opening hours (www.edinburghremakery.org.uk/contact). If you’d like to make a cash donation then you can do this any time, simply use the ‘Donate’ button on this page.
My laptop is old / missing parts / has no battery / is not working – can you still accept it?
If your laptop is Vista or newer then we can source spare parts in order to refurbish it. If it is in very bad condition or older than this, please email the make and model and a photo if possible to computer@remadeinedinburgh.org.uk and we will let you know if we’re able to accept it.

Our furniture delivery and collection service is funded by Changeworks as part of the Zero Waste Leith project. Find out more about this initiative to make Leith a greener city by visiting their Facebook page.
