Build on your sewing machine skills in this practical and useful workshop
This Sewing Machine Skills Progression workshop will build on the basic skills and techniques you’ve developed at one of our Introductory workshops, or on any sewing machine experience you may already have.
We will show you how to:
- Make a variety of darts, tucks and pleats
- Sew a neckline or waistline facing
- Insert a zip and/or make buttonholes
- Create a small item combining the techniques you’ve practiced
By the end of this 3 hour workshop, you’ll use these new skills and techniques to apply them to creating a small sewn item along with practical everyday tasks such as taking-up trouser and skirt hems, taking-in waistbands or altering your latest thrift shop finds!
This course is suitable for those who have completed our Sewing Machine Skills Introduction workshop and for those with some experience who would like a refresher course or who are using a new, unfamiliar machine. Sewing machines will be provided along with all materials, equipment, tools, and fabrics, as well as all-important teas and coffees to keep those creative juices flowing.

Workshop Cancellations, Changes, and Refunds
– Workshop bookings are non-refundable.
– If you are no longer able to attend your booked workshop, we may be able to offer you a place on an equivalent course or workshop if we are notified up to five working days before the course or workshop start date, and if there is availability.
– In the event that a workshop is cancelled by us, we will offer you the choice to transfer your space to the next available date for the workshop booked, a space on a different workshop (please note that if selecting a workshop on a higher price, the difference would need to be paid) or offer you a full refund. We will endeavour to inform you of cancellations at least three days before the event, where possible.
