10-Week Machine Knitting Masterclass, 17th January – 27th March 2020
Join our 10-week Machine Knitting Masterclass and learn everything you need to know to make your own fantastic machine knitted clothing and accessories.
These sessions will run every Friday from 6.00-9.00pm, starting on Friday 17th January and running for 10 weeks (excluding the February mid-term break) with the final session taking place on 27th March.
Throughout this 10 week course you will learn how to confidently set up and operate a knitting machine, how to cast on and cast off, shape knitted panels in decreasing and increasing sizes, create stripes and fair isle designs, and trims. You’ll be taught how to create your own patterns and designs, and will complete projects across the weeks to knit your own scarf, hat and, finally, a more complex knitted top with sleeves, waist, neck and sleeve trims in colours of your own choice.
By the end of this course you will have the ability to competently plan, design, and create your own patterns, accessories and garments, professionally finishing these ready to wear!
Dates and further details of all 5 workshops can be found below:
Session 1-3 – Getting to grips with using a knitting machine, learning how to cast on and cast off, and create fair isle, stripes and shaping designs. By the end of session 3 you would have completed your own knitted scarf and knitted beanie of your own design.
Session 4-5 – We will begin to sample different fabrics (colour, pattern and trims) for your top garment and you will learn how to conduct garment calculations to ensure your garment fits the wearer perfectly.
Session 6-8 – We will begin knitting the panels and trims for your top garment, learning the various techniques involved in garment construction
Session 9-10 – These final two sessions will look at how to join the seams of your garment and trims, and add any finishes that may be required or desired to complete your own beautifully handmade top.
Join now for a discounted price of just £250 – that’s just £25 a session! The price of the workshop includes the cost of all materials, equipment, and expert guidance and tuition. Sustainable yarns of natural origin will be used.
This exclusive workshop has just 4 spaces available.
