Volunteer With Us
We’re always on the lookout for fantastic, enthusiastic volunteers to lend a hand. We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our volunteers and we always strive to give them valuable experience and training in the fields they are most interested in, and the opportunity to meet new, lovely people and become a part of the Remakery family.
How can you get involved?
We often have opportunities available in the Remakery shop, within our IT department, assisting with our various workshops and events, helping out with admin tasks, and in our woodwork studio.
Find out more about what opportunities we have available below.
I’m afraid we do not currently have any volunteer positions available.
Positions will be opening again the New Year so please check back with us then.

Social Media Assistant
Are you a passionate and friendly individual with a creative flair and a knack for photography and writing?
We’re looking for someone to help out with our social media reporting for events and workshops. This will involve attending events, workshops, and weekly Thursday night repair sessions to capture photos and videos, chat to our customers, and gather positive stories of repair and reuse to share with our followers.
Excellent visual and written communication skills are essential, and some experience of using social media platforms would be beneficial, however full training will be given to the right candidate.
If you’re outgoing and passionate about sharing uplifting tales of repair and reuse to promote the #zerowaste message, then get in touch using the Social Media volunteer form link above.
Woodwork Studio Assistant
Do you have good working knowledge of furniture repairs? Or are you looking for an opportunity to use your creative artistic flair to refinish and upcycle furniture?
We get new donations of furniture every week and often receive pieces that need a bit of TLC. If you have experience of using woodwork tools and equipment, or have a good eye for detail, knowledge of interior trends, or experience in painting and refinishing techniques, then we’d love to hear from you!
Shop Retail Assistant
Sales and Shop Floor Assistants play a vital part in the running of the Edinburgh Remakery.
In our busy repair hub, Sales Assistants are responsible for providing a warm welcome to all customers and assisting them with any purchases. The role also involves helping with deliveries of new furniture and stock, including cleaning and simple refurbishments, visual merchandising of the shopfloor, and creating interesting and engaging window displays to inspire customers.
This is a fantastic, sociable role and a great chance to learn more about what we do at the Remakery and our environmental goals.
There will also be some opportunities to help to arrange and run in store events and projects when they take place.
There’s always a lot going on behind the scenes at the Remakery, and our admin volunteers are essential to help keep everything running smoothly.
We need help with routine tasks such as updating spreadsheets and forms, but there are also opportunities to help with the preparation and coordination of events and workshops, updates to the website and social media pages, and supporting our larger projects and community campaigns.
Remade in Edinburgh is a campaigning organisation and part of our mission is to promote a Repair Revolution, inspiring others to live more sustainably and minimise waste by recognising the potential in their everyday belongings.
If you’re friendly and enjoy meeting new people and want to help promote our zero waste mission, then get in touch! Events are on an ad-hoc basis so there is no regular commitment., but there are always opportunities to get involved with other aspects of the organisation as well.
