Teen’s Textile Camp, Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st July 2022

This workshop is running from 2-5pm on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st July, and is suitable for 13-18 year olds. Bookings can be made for either one or both days.

Learning basic sewing skills is a fun and easy way to equip young people with practical knowledge and experience, and inspire creativity that can last a lifetime.

The clothes we wear can be an important part of who we are, and can allow us to express our own individuality. We can help you find your own unique style as we discuss and explore these exciting subjects together!

Using a sewing box or sewing machine, you’ll learn to create new items as well as mend or alter your own clothes and belongings in a sustainable and eco-friendly way, reducing textile waste and extending the life of your clothes!

1. Day program:

  • Finding your own style

  • Introduction to mending by hand and sewing machine

  • Sewing basics: make a pencil case or similar small accessory from scratch, practicing cutting fabric, creating seams, and adding finishing touches.

2. Day program options:

  • Personal project: a simple garment, such as a cushion, or a bag, for you to design and make, with support from our expert sewing tutor. Along the way you’ll learn how to finish seams with a zig-zag stitch to prevent fraying; make hems; and even add pockets and other stylish finishing touches.

  • Art textiles: create an image from textiles using sewing by hand or machine, patching, beading, and embroidery.

Come and join us at Remakery for a lot of fun and learn some practical and creative skills to impress!
