Sewing Machine Skills in 3 hours, Wednesday 31st August 2022
This Sewing Machine Skills workshop is designed to give you basic skills in using a sewing machine, helping you complete simple projects and make common repairs with ease.
This workshop will introduce you to a sewing machine and its various parts, going over what each component does, and how it all works and fits together.
We will show you how to thread your machine, how to fill your bobbin, change a needle, and give you plenty of time for sewing practice and an opportunity to make a simple item with basic seams.
We will then build on this groundwork knowledge by looking at the different types of seams and finishing techniques, including how to insert a zip, make buttonholes, and how to maintain your sewing machine and prevent costly service charges!
This course is suitable for both complete beginners and for those with a bit of experience who’d like a refresher course or who are using a new, unfamiliar machine.
If you own a sewing machine then you are welcome to bring this along and work with this during the workshop (we just ask that you let us know the make and model prior to the workshop so that we can prepare for this), otherwise we provide all sewing machines, equipment, tools, and materials.
