SOLD OUT Make your own Kimono Style Jacket, Tuesday 11th – 25th February 2020
Join our brand new workshop with designer Alison Harm from Psychomoda, and learn the skills to make your own beautiful and versatile kimono style jacket.
Workshops will run Tuesday 11th February 6-8pm and Tuesday 18th and 25th February 6-9pm. This class is suitable for both beginner or intermediate sewers.
Session One, Tuesday 11th 6-8pm : in this first class, you will create a mock up or toille of your garment, learning how to take measurements and fitting the jacket to your own body. We will discuss different fabric types and the effect they would have on your kimono design, deciding what kind of fabric you would need to create your final piece and teaching you a bit more about the uses of different fabrics for other projects in the process!
After this first session you will need to source the fabric you would like to use to make your kimono.
Session Two and Three, Tuesday 18th and 25th 6-9pm : in the second session, you will return with your fabric and across this and session three, proceed to make your final piece, learning how to cut, pin, tack and machine sew your fabric, finishing your design with different seams, hems, necklines, and stitching to create your own uniquely designed kimono.
All equipment and tools will be provided, plus all-important tea and coffee to fuel your creativity. Please feel free to bring along your own sewing machine to learn on if you have one, as well as any fabrics, materials and clothes you’d like to work with.
Complete newbies welcome! Across both sessions we will take you through each process step by step, teaching you new skills and techniques which you’ll build on throughout the classes.
