Make a Summer Dress from a Duvet Cover, Sunday 26th June 2022
Our newest upcycling workshop, join this fantastic 4.5 hour sewing workshop and learn to make a beautiful summer dress using a duvet cover!
You may have the skills to mend clothes or sew something small, but making dress from a duvet cover may seem one step too far! But we promise by the end of this session you’ll go away with your own handmade dress fitted to you and ready to wear – and you wont look at a duvet cover or piece of fabric again without wondering what else you can make out of it!
Our expert sewing tutors will help you every step of the way, guiding you throughout the design and making process. The first step will involve creating a dress pattern customised to you which you can take home and use time and again to make new dresses for yourself and others!
This workshop will teach you valuable new skills so that you can live more sustainably, using textile upcycling and sewing as a way to extend the use of a piece of fabric or item of clothing, reducing your carbon footprint and reducing pollution created by textile waste all at the same time.
What you will learn –
– How to make the dress pattern customized for your size
– How to lay and cut the fabric
– How to sew and finish the edge of the fabric
– How to set up, make the shoulder strap and hem the dress.
– How to iron the fabric
What you’ll need to bring – Bring an old duvet cover or a large piece of light fabric to make your upcycled summer dress.
We will provide you with all the tools and equipment you need as well as refreshments throughout the day.
This workshop is taught by our amazing sewing tutors at the Remode Collective.
