SOLD OUT 5-Week Upcycled Book-Binding Course, 12th February – 11th March 2020
Keen to learn something new this winter and inject some creativity into your week? Join our resident bookbinder Cass of Bookbinding with Cass, for a 5-week Upcycled Bookbinding course where you will learn a range of stitches and go home with a finished book or journal each week!
This 5-week course will be running every Wednesday, 6:30-8:45pm, from 12th February-11th March 2020.
Book your space now for £135 and receive a free bookbinding starter kit with everything you need to continue creating your own unique books at home.
All materials will be provided, plus all-important tea and coffee to fuel your creativity. Please feel free bring along any decorative paper, postcards, photographs and bits & bobs you would like to incorporate into your book to give it that personal touch.
Bookbinding newbies welcome! We will take you through the whole process step by step, finishing with your own hand-crafted books to take home with you as the perfect gift – for you or someone else.

Leather Cover Exposed Long-Stitch Book-Binding :
Create an upcycled leather or pleather covered A6 journal with a three-hole straight stitch in this creative book-binding workshop – makes for a great notebook or sketchbook. In this workshop you’ll learn the basics of book-binding and how to incorporate decorative papers and experiment with a range of different fastening techniques to create your desired finish.
Concertina ‘Dos a Dos’ Book-binding
Create a three-section concertina book using recycled card and decorative papers in this workshop and learn a range of different straight stitches to finish it off. This is a really versatile book that can be used for all number of things – a notebook, sketchbook, or a journal.
Japanese Stab Book-Binding
Learn a series of 4-hole decorative stitches to create a set of Japanese stab bound notebooks using decorative papers and materials.
Decorative V Stitch Book-Binding
Create your own upcycled leather or vegan pleather covered book with a decorative V stitched spine.
Accordion Fold Book-Binding
Learn some nifty paper-folding and binding techniques in this book-making workshop and create your own individual and personalised extendable fold-book with a decorative fabric cover.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Concessionary Discount Information
We are able to offer a maximum of two concession spaces per workshop which are available on a first come first serve basis. If they do not appear in the ticket selection section, they have already been sold. However, many of our workshops are repeated so please return to our main workshop page for more upcoming dates. Concession prices are applicable if you are a receiving benefits, unemployed, or over the age of 60. Proof of eligibility where possible will be required when attending the workshop.
Workshop Cancellations, Changes, and Refunds
Should you wish to cancel or make any changes to your workshop booking then please phone us on 0131 629 9358.
You may cancel with a full refund five or more working days before the course or workshop start date. For cancellations made five or fewer working days before the event, no refund or changes to a booking can be made.
We may be able to offer you a place on an equivalent course or workshop instead of a refund if we are notified up to five working days before the course or workshop start date, and if there is availability.
In the event that a workshop is cancelled, we will offer you the choice to transfer your space to the next available workshop, a workshop of your choosing, or offer you a full refund. You will be informed of cancellations at least three days before the event.
Health and Safety
If you have any medical conditions which may affect your ability to carry out certain tasks within the workshop, then we advise that you seek advice from your GP prior to booking. Please also inform us of any medical conditions prior to the start of the workshop.
Photography and Filming
We may at times record or photograph workshops for use in marketing and publications linked to the Edinburgh Remakery. Disruption of workshops will be kept to an absolute minimum. If you would like to know more, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
