Zero Waste Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government to support the delivery of its Circular Economy Strategy and other low carbon and resource efficiency policy priorities.

The Community Help & Advice Initiative (CHAI) has operated since 1997 providing a range of social welfare and housing support services to the residents of West and South Edinburgh. The key aim of CHAI is the alleviation of poverty and disadvantage through support, direct assistance and education.
CHAI delivers services in the following key areas
– Advice Services/EHAP (Housing, Debt, Benefits advice & representation)
– Housing Support (Home visiting service)
– Furniture Recycling
CHAI’s furniture recycling service now works in partnership with Remade in Edinburgh to provide the Edinburgh Remakery with good quality second hand furniture for resale or refurbishment & repair. CHAI aim to be Revolve Accredited within the next few months to ensure quality standards are met.

The Waste & Recycling Team and Social Responsibility and Sustainability Office are delighted to be working with Remade in Edinburgh to help bring the Remakery into fruition. Our aim is to assist in the creation of a customer-focused combined reuse and repair centre where customers can learn to extend the life of valuable resources through mending and maintenance can purchase good quality second hand goods.
